Definition: Delivery Point versus Standard POSTNET Barcode

The "Delivery Point Barcode" represents both the full nine-digit ZIP code and two numbers from the street address and is required on all automated mailings. The "Standard POSTNET Barcode" is the Delivery Point Barcode's predecessor. It represents only ZIP Code information, with no street address details. The Standard POSTNET Barcode can be used on non-automated mailings. In addition, Business Reply Mail uses a Standard POSTNET barcode.
