Clean Up Your Address Lists With High Speed Internet FASTforward
Palo Alto, Calif., July 15, 1999: Envelope Manager Software offers Internet Move Updating, the only real-time address move update correction technology that provides bulk mailers and address list managers access to the USPS FASTforwardSM system 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The process checks to see if any of the people in an address list have instructed the United States Postal Service to forward their mail to a new address. Based largely on Envelope Manager Software's patented Dial-A-ZIP® address correction process, mailing lists are compared to the change of address data via an Internet connection.
The USPS requires that all First-Class discount mailers update their address lists every six months using a USPS-approved address update tool to qualify for postage discounts. Prior to the release of Internet Move Updating, mailers had to export and submit their data to a service bureau, wait for the service bureau to process the list, then re-import the data into their system and match the results to the original file. With the integration of Internet Move Updating into Envelope Manager's software, mailers can process their address lists in minutes (instead of waiting several days for it to be processed by a service bureau) and avoid the exporting and re-importing hassles. Plus, Envelope Manager provides automatic record matching, presenting each move update address with the "old" address and then updating the address list.
Recently, Envelope Manager's high-speed Turbo technology was incorporated into the Internet Move Updating service, providing list processing at speeds 10 to 12 times faster than previously available. Prior to the release of Turbo Internet Move Updating, tests showed it took (on average) 26 seconds for 800 addresses to be checked. With Turbo Internet Move Updating, checking 800 addresses took only two seconds. Customer use is yielding remarkable results, with reports of 6,000 addresses checked in one minute from a standard desktop PC and a cross-country Internet connection.
For security, all addresses in a list are protected by Secure Socket Layer encryption. Secure Socket Layer encryption is the industry standard for Internet e-commerce. Additionally, Envelope Manager prints a hardcopy report of the potential move matches and the National Deliverability Index statistics required by USPS FASTforward regulations.
