What does "Codebase Error -200" mean?
This error message occurs when trying to open a database in which the file header and possibly the data are corrupt. What you'll need to do is transfer the existing data into a new database file, then re-import that new file into Envelope Manager (which is a lot easier than it sounds). A procedure has been established for doing this, using Excel. If you do not have Excel, please contact Technical Support.
WARNING: If the ZIP Codes in your database start with 0 (zero), then you must reenter the ZIP Codes when doing the following procedure because Excel will drop the initial 0's during the import (i.e., it will convert "01234" and "00567" to just "1234" and "567").
- Open the database in Excel (as a .DBF file).
- Hit CTRL + A. Your entire database should be highlighted.
- On the menu bar, click on Format | Columns | AutoFit Selection. All of the information contained in each cell should now be completely displayed and not cut-off.
- Click on cell A1. None of the cells should be highlighted anymore.
- On the menu bar, click on File | Save As. Make sure that the "Save as type" is DBF 4(dBASE IV), and check where the file is being saved to (listed in the "Save in" field). For the database name, call it TEMP followed by today's date (e.g. - TEMP0417 ). Click on the Save button.
- You may get a warning about the format of the file. It's okay. Click Yes to continue saving.
- Close Excel.
You'll need to create a new database in Envelope Manager PAVE (File | New). Be sure to give the new database a new name and not the same name as your corrupted database. Import TEMP0417.DBF (i.e. - the file you created above) into Envelope Manager as a "Generic dBase/XBase"-type file. Verify that everything imported properly. Then delete your original, corrupted database. You may delete TEMP0417.DBF as well.
If you're still receiving an error message, then contact Technical Support with the error message still on the screen. If you're unable to call at that time, write down all of the text in the error message box exactly as it appears. Be sure to include the full pathname, with the three character extension at the end. (An example would be c:\winem\database.dbf).
