How do I print a DAZzle Layout Using a SA50 or SA60 High Speed Printer?
Using the SA50 and SA60 is relatively straightforward with Envelope Manager PAVE's High Speed Printing feature. But there are some tricks involved for printing a DAZzle layout.
- Make sure you have the current firmware. From the programming menu on the printer, hit Previous several times until you get to Service. When "Rev" blinks, hit Enter and it will tell you the firmware version. You need version 5.1 or better.
NOTE: Version 5.3 has its own quirk. On a permit imprint, the text sometimes goes outside the box. Try setting the font size as small as possible and changing the settings on the local lock.
- For DAZzle printing, set the Barcode in the SA50/SA60's menu to Off. (For hish speed printing, use Delivery Point Barcode.) Set the Paper Size to Off also.
- If you set a user defined paper size in the DAZzle Printer Setup, turn the Paper Size on the SA50/SA60 printer to Off. Otherwise the Windows printer driver for the SA50 mysteriously resets the paper size on the printer to something very small and then it jams.
- The portrain/landscape definition in DAZzle is reversed. Inside DAZzle's Printer Setup, use these settings (but actually feed the mailpiece skinny end first):
Normal orientaion
Potrait
Face Up
Top First
Right Side
- In DAZzle, place all your text/graphics/etc. in the top 1.5" of the mailpiece. This area represents the 1.5" printer 'band'. Then, adjust the printer head array on the printer (that has the actual HP inkjet cartridge) and position it to where you would like to print on the envelope. In other words, you don't adjust the printer location using DAZzle; you adjust it on the printer itself.
- In the printer's menu, lock the settings. Set the margins to 0 (zero). DAZzle will control the left margin and the SA50/SA60 printer hear array will control the top margin. (By contrast, the left margin setting in the printer's menu determines where the barcode and address will print when you use the High Speed Printing feature in Envelope Manager PAVE.)
- There is a known problem with printing one envelope, then a blank, then an envelope, then a blank. This happens when the printer speed is too fat for what's spooled. If that happens, call Neopost. (The SA60 can adjust its speed to resolve this.)
